Brazilian Federal District
The Brazilian Federal District is a unique administrative region in Brazil that houses the capital city, Brasília. Established in 1960, it was created to promote the development of the interior of the country and reduce the concentration of political power in coastal cities. The district is bordered by the states of Goiás and Minas Gerais.
The Federal District covers an area of approximately 5,802 square kilometers and is divided into several administrative regions. It is known for its modernist architecture, designed by the famous architect Oscar Niemeyer, and its urban planning, which was led by Lúcio Costa.
