Bowe Bergdahl
Bowe Bergdahl is a former U.S. Army soldier who was captured by the Taliban in Afghanistan in 2009. He left his post in search of help, which led to his abduction. Bergdahl spent nearly five years in captivity before being released in a controversial prisoner swap in 2014, where the U.S. exchanged five Taliban leaders held at Guantanamo Bay.
His case sparked significant media attention and debate regarding military conduct and the ethics of negotiating with terrorists. Following his return, Bergdahl faced legal proceedings, including charges of desertion and misbehavior before the enemy, which resulted in a dishonorable discharge.
