Bosnian Serb Republic
The Bosnian Serb Republic, also known as Republika Srpska, is one of the two entities that make up the country of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Established in 1992 during the Bosnian War, it was recognized as part of the Dayton Agreement in 1995, which ended the conflict. The entity has its own government and institutions, operating semi-autonomously within the framework of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Republika Srpska covers approximately 49% of the country's territory and has a predominantly Serb population. Its capital is Banja Luka, which serves as the political and cultural center. The entity has faced various political challenges and tensions, particularly regarding its relationship with the other entity, the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
