Bosnian Serb Army
The Bosnian Serb Army (VRS) was the military force of the self-proclaimed Republic of Srpska during the Bosnian War from 1992 to 1995. It was formed primarily from the Yugoslav People's Army and local paramilitary groups, representing the interests of the Bosnian Serb population. The VRS was involved in various military operations and was a key player in the conflict, which arose from the breakup of Yugoslavia.
The army was known for its significant role in the siege of Sarajevo and the Srebrenica massacre, which drew international condemnation. After the war, the VRS was disbanded, and many of its leaders faced trials for war crimes at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY).
