Bosnian History
Bosnia's history is marked by its diverse cultural influences and complex political landscape. The region was part of the Roman Empire and later the Ottoman Empire, which significantly shaped its culture and religion. In the late 19th century, Bosnia was annexed by Austria-Hungary, leading to tensions among its ethnic groups.
In the 20th century, Bosnia became part of Yugoslavia after World War I. The breakup of Yugoslavia in the 1990s resulted in a devastating civil war, characterized by ethnic conflict among Bosniaks, Serbs, and Croats. The war ended with the Dayton Agreement in 1995, establishing Bosnia and Herzegovina as a sovereign state.
