Bosnian Church
The Bosnian Church, known as BosanĨica, was a Christian denomination that emerged in the medieval period in what is now Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is often associated with the Bosnian Kingdom and is characterized by its unique beliefs and practices, which were distinct from both the Catholic and Orthodox traditions. The church played a significant role in the cultural and religious identity of the Bosnian people during its existence.
The Bosnian Church was primarily influenced by Bogomilism, a dualistic faith that emphasized a spiritual interpretation of Christianity. Its followers, known as Bosnian Christians, faced persecution from both the Catholic and Orthodox churches, leading to a decline in their numbers. By the 17th century, the Bosnian Church had largely disappeared, but its legacy remains an important part of the region's history.
