Borborygmus
Borborygmus is the medical term for the rumbling or gurgling sounds produced by the movement of gas and fluid in the intestines. These sounds are a normal part of digestion and can occur when the stomach is empty or during the process of eating.
While often associated with hunger, borborygmus can also happen after meals as the digestive system works to break down food. It is generally harmless, but excessive or loud borborygmus may indicate digestive issues or conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome or gastroenteritis.
