Bonny Prince Charlie
Bonny Prince Charlie, born Charles Edward Stuart in 1720, was a key figure in the {Jacobite} uprisings aimed at restoring the {Stuart} monarchy to the British throne. He was the grandson of King {James II} and led the 1745 rebellion, rallying support from Scottish clans to reclaim his family's crown.
The uprising initially saw some success, with Charlie's forces capturing Edinburgh. However, the campaign ultimately failed at the {Battle of Culloden} in 1746, leading to his retreat and exile. Despite his defeat, Bonny Prince Charlie remains a symbol of Scottish nationalism and the struggle for independence.
