Bone Bruises
A bone bruise, also known as a bone contusion, occurs when there is damage to the bone tissue without a complete fracture. This injury typically results from a direct impact or trauma, causing bleeding and swelling within the bone. Symptoms may include pain, tenderness, and swelling in the affected area.
Diagnosis of a bone bruise is often made through imaging techniques like MRI or X-rays. Treatment usually involves rest, ice, compression, and elevation (RICE) to reduce swelling and pain. Most bone bruises heal on their own over time, but severe cases may require medical intervention.
