Bondurant brothers
The Bondurant brothers were three American siblings, Howard, Ray, and Forrest, who gained notoriety during the Prohibition era in the 1920s. They were known for their involvement in illegal activities, particularly bootlegging, which involved the production and distribution of alcohol despite its prohibition in the United States. Their operations were based in Virginia and they became famous for their ability to evade law enforcement.
The brothers' story was popularized in the 2012 film, Lawless, which depicted their lives and struggles against rival gangs and government authorities. The film was based on the historical account provided in the book, The Wettest County in the World by Matt Bondurant, a descendant of the brothers. Their legacy remains a significant part of American folklore related to the Prohibition era.
