Bodo Territorial Region
The Bodo Territorial Region (BTR) is an administrative area in the northeastern Indian state of Assam. Established in January 2020, it was created to provide greater autonomy and self-governance to the Bodo people, an indigenous ethnic group in the region. The BTR includes districts like Kokrajhar, Baksa, Bongaigaon, and parts of Guwahati.
The formation of the BTR followed a peace agreement between the Indian government and the Bodo groups, aimed at resolving long-standing issues related to identity, land rights, and political representation. This region is significant for its cultural heritage and biodiversity, contributing to the overall development of Assam.
