Blue Wildebeest
The Blue Wildebeest, also known as the gnu, is a large antelope native to the grasslands and savannas of Africa. They are easily recognized by their distinctive curved horns and a robust body. Adult males typically weigh between 400 to 600 pounds, while females are slightly smaller. Their coat is a mix of gray and brown, with a lighter underbelly.
Blue wildebeests are social animals, often found in herds that can number in the thousands. They primarily graze on grasses and are known for their migratory behavior, traveling long distances in search of food and water. This species plays a crucial role in the ecosystem by helping to maintain the balance of grasslands.
