Blessed Teresa of Calcutta
Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, commonly known as Mother Teresa, was a Roman Catholic nun and missionary born on August 26, 1910, in Skopje, now part of North Macedonia. She founded the Missionaries of Charity in 1950, an organization dedicated to helping the poorest of the poor. Her work focused on providing care for the sick, orphaned, and dying, particularly in India.
Mother Teresa received numerous awards for her humanitarian efforts, including the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979. She was canonized as a saint by the Catholic Church on September 4, 2016, recognizing her lifelong commitment to serving those in need and her deep faith.
