Black Turnstone
The Black Turnstone is a small shorebird found along the Pacific coast of North America. It has a distinctive black plumage with white wing patches and a short, stout bill. These birds are often seen foraging on rocky shorelines, where they flip over stones and debris to find food such as invertebrates and small crustaceans.
During the breeding season, Black Turnstones migrate to the Arctic tundra, where they nest on the ground. They are known for their strong, agile flight and are often seen in flocks. Their population is stable, and they are considered a species of least concern by conservationists.
