Black Guillemot
The Black Guillemot is a seabird belonging to the family Alcidae, commonly found in the North Atlantic. It has a distinctive black plumage with white wing patches and a bright red-orange bill. These birds are known for their agile swimming and diving abilities, often foraging for fish and crustaceans in coastal waters.
During the breeding season, Black Guillemots nest in rocky crevices or cliff ledges. They typically lay one to three eggs, which both parents incubate. After hatching, the chicks are fed a diet of small fish and are capable of diving shortly after leaving the nest, showcasing their adaptability to marine life.
