Biogenesis
Biogenesis is the scientific principle that life arises from pre-existing life, rather than from non-living matter. This concept supports the idea that living organisms reproduce and give rise to new individuals, ensuring the continuity of life. It contrasts with the theory of abiogenesis, which suggests that life can originate from inorganic substances.
The idea of biogenesis was significantly advanced by the work of scientists like Louis Pasteur, who conducted experiments in the 19th century that demonstrated that microorganisms come from other microorganisms. His findings helped to establish the foundation for modern microbiology and our understanding of the origins of life.
