Billy Bishop
Billy Bishop was a Canadian flying ace during World War I, known for his exceptional skills as a fighter pilot. Born on February 8, 1894, in Owen Sound, Ontario, he joined the Royal Flying Corps and quickly gained a reputation for his bravery and effectiveness in aerial combat. Bishop is credited with shooting down 72 enemy aircraft, making him one of the top aces of the war.
In addition to his combat achievements, Bishop was awarded the Victoria Cross, the highest military honor in the British Empire, for his daring solo raid on a German airfield. After the war, he became a prominent figure in aviation and served in various roles, including as a businessman and a politician. Bishop passed away on September 11, 1956.
