Bill Clinton Impeachment
The impeachment of Bill Clinton, the 42nd President of the United States, occurred in 1998. It was primarily driven by allegations of perjury and obstruction of justice related to his extramarital affair with Monica Lewinsky, a White House intern. The House of Representatives approved two articles of impeachment, making him the second U.S. president to be impeached after Andrew Johnson.
The Senate trial took place in early 1999, where Clinton was acquitted on both charges. A two-thirds majority was required for conviction, but the Senate fell short, allowing Clinton to complete his second term in office.
