Bil'in Popular Resistance
Bil'in Popular Resistance is a grassroots movement in the village of Bil'in, located in the West Bank. It began in 2005 in response to the construction of the Israeli separation barrier, which the villagers argued encroached on their land. The movement is characterized by peaceful protests, including weekly demonstrations that attract both local residents and international supporters.
The protests in Bil'in often involve symbolic actions, such as planting olive trees and holding banners. The movement has gained attention for its nonviolent approach, despite facing challenges from Israeli security forces. Over the years, it has inspired similar movements in other Palestinian communities.
