Biederman's Theory
Biederman's Theory, developed by psychologist Irving Biederman, focuses on how humans recognize and categorize objects. It suggests that we identify objects based on their basic shapes, known as "geons." These geons are simple three-dimensional forms, such as cylinders and cones, that combine to create complex objects.
According to the theory, our brain processes these shapes quickly, allowing us to recognize objects even when they are partially obscured or viewed from different angles. This ability to recognize objects efficiently is crucial for navigating our environment and understanding the world around us.
