Beta Velorum A is a bright star located in the constellation of Vela, which is part of the larger Argo Navis constellation. It is classified as a B-type main-sequence star, indicating that it is hot and blue in color. With an apparent magnitude of about 2.8, it is one of the more prominent stars in the night sky.
This star is approximately 24 light-years away from Earth and has a surface temperature of around 25,000 Kelvin. Beta Velorum A is part of a binary system, which includes a companion star, Beta Velorum B, that orbits it. Together, they contribute to the overall brightness of the Vela constellation.
