Bengali calendar
The Bengali calendar, also known as the Bangla calendar, is a solar calendar used in the regions of Bengal, including Bangladesh and the Indian state of West Bengal. It consists of 12 months, starting with Chaitra and ending with Falgun. The calendar is approximately 593 days ahead of the Gregorian calendar and is widely used for cultural and agricultural purposes.
The Bengali New Year, called Pohela Boishakh, is celebrated on the first day of the month of Boishakh.
