Benares
Benares, also known as Varanasi, is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, located in northern India along the banks of the Ganges River. It is a major cultural and religious hub, particularly for Hinduism, where many pilgrims come to perform rituals and seek spiritual purification.
The city is famous for its ghats, which are steps leading down to the river, where people gather for bathing and ceremonies. Benares is also known for its vibrant arts scene, including traditional music, dance, and the production of Banarasi silk sarees, making it a significant center for Indian heritage and craftsmanship.
