Belum Rainforest
The Belum Rainforest, located in northern Malaysia, is one of the oldest rainforests in the world, estimated to be over 130 million years old. It covers an area of approximately 300 square kilometers and is part of the larger Belum-Temengor Forest Complex. This rich ecosystem is home to diverse flora and fauna, including rare species such as the Malayan tiger and the Asian elephant.
The rainforest is also significant for its cultural heritage, as it is inhabited by the Orang Asli people, who have lived in harmony with the forest for generations. Visitors can explore its lush landscapes through guided treks, boat rides, and canopy walks, making it a popular destination for ecotourism and nature enthusiasts.
