Belted Kingfisher
The Belted Kingfisher is a medium-sized bird known for its striking appearance, featuring a blue-gray body and a distinctive crest. Males have a single rusty band across their chest, while females have two, giving them their name. These birds are often found near rivers, lakes, and coastal areas, where they hunt for fish.
Belted Kingfishers are skilled divers, using their sharp beaks to catch prey. They are known for their loud, rattling call and can often be seen perched on branches or hovering above the water. Their habitat includes regions across North America and parts of Central America.
