Giant Kingfisher
The Giant Kingfisher is a large bird native to Africa, particularly found near rivers, lakes, and coastal areas. It measures about 40 to 45 centimeters in length, making it one of the largest kingfisher species. Its plumage is mostly dark blue and white, with a distinctive ruff of feathers around its neck.
This bird primarily feeds on fish, which it catches by diving into the water. The Giant Kingfisher is known for its loud, rattling call and often hunts from a perch, watching for prey. It plays an important role in its ecosystem by helping to control fish populations.
