Belarusian Coordination Council
The Belarusian Coordination Council is an organization formed in August 2020 in response to the controversial presidential elections in Belarus. Its primary goal is to facilitate a peaceful transition of power and promote dialogue between the government and the opposition. The council includes various representatives from civil society, political parties, and other groups advocating for democratic reforms.
The formation of the council was largely driven by widespread protests against the re-election of President Alexander Lukashenko, who has been in power since 1994. The council aims to represent the interests of the Belarusian people and seeks to address issues such as human rights, political repression, and the need for free elections.
