Behrman
Behrman is a character from the short story "The Last Leaf" by O. Henry. He is an elderly artist living in Greenwich Village, known for his gruff exterior but kind heart. Despite his own struggles, he is deeply caring and protective of his young neighbor, Johnsy, who is ill with pneumonia.
In the story, Behrman dreams of creating a masterpiece but has yet to do so. When he learns that Johnsy believes she will die when the last leaf falls from a vine outside her window, he takes it upon himself to help her. His selfless act ultimately leads to a poignant and inspiring conclusion.
