Bear Attacks
Bear attacks are rare but can occur when humans inadvertently come too close to a bear's territory or cubs. Most species of bears, such as the grizzly bear and black bear, prefer to avoid humans. However, if they feel threatened or surprised, they may react defensively.
To reduce the risk of a bear attack, it is important to make noise while hiking, travel in groups, and store food properly when camping. If confronted by a bear, experts recommend staying calm, avoiding direct eye contact, and slowly backing away without turning your back on the animal.
