Beach Formation
Beach formation occurs through the processes of erosion and deposition along coastlines. Waves crash against the shore, breaking down rocks and sand, which are then transported by currents. This movement creates various beach shapes and sizes, influenced by factors like wave energy and sediment supply.
As sediments accumulate, they form sandy or pebbly beaches. The type of material depends on the local geology and the strength of the waves. Over time, vegetation may grow on the beach, stabilizing the sand and contributing to the ecosystem, which includes species like sea oats and shorebirds.
