Battle of the Rosebud
The Battle of the Rosebud took place on June 17, 1876, during the Great Sioux War. It was fought between the United States Army, led by General George Crook, and a coalition of Native American tribes, including the Lakota and Cheyenne. The battle occurred near the Rosebud Creek in present-day Montana, as Crook's forces were advancing to join other military units.
The engagement was significant as it delayed Crook's campaign against the Lakota and their allies, who were preparing for the larger confrontation at the Little Bighorn. Although the battle was indecisive, it showcased the determination and tactical skills of the Native American forces.
