The Battle of Tsushima was a naval battle fought on May 27-28, 1905, during the Russo-Japanese War. It took place in the Tsushima Strait between the fleets of the Imperial Japanese Navy and the Imperial Russian Navy. The battle was significant as it marked the first major naval victory of an Asian power over a European power in modern history.
In this decisive engagement, the Japanese fleet, under the command of Admiral Heihachiro Togo, decisively defeated the Russian fleet led by Admiral Zinovy Rozhestvensky. The battle resulted in the destruction of much of the Russian fleet and solidified Japan's status as a rising military power on the world stage.
