Imperial Japanese Navy
The Imperial Japanese Navy was the naval force of the Empire of Japan from 1868 until 1947. It played a significant role in Japan's military expansion during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, participating in conflicts such as the First Sino-Japanese War and World War I. The navy was known for its advanced technology and powerful battleships, including the famous Yamato class.
During World War II, the Imperial Japanese Navy was a major player in the Pacific Theater, engaging in key battles like the Battle of Midway and the Battle of Leyte Gulf. However, it faced significant losses and ultimately contributed to Japan's defeat in 1945. After the war, the navy was disbanded, and Japan established a new maritime force, the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force.
