Battle of Ticonderoga
The Battle of Ticonderoga took place on May 10, 1775, during the early stages of the American Revolutionary War. It was a surprise attack led by the Green Mountain Boys, a militia group commanded by Ethan Allen and Benedict Arnold. They captured the fort from the British without a single shot being fired, seizing valuable artillery and supplies.
The fort, located on the shores of Lake Champlain in New York, was strategically important for controlling the movement between Canada and the American colonies. The successful capture of Ticonderoga boosted American morale and provided much-needed cannons for the Continental Army in subsequent battles.
