Ethan Allen
Ethan Allen was an American military leader and folk hero known for his role in the American Revolutionary War. Born in 1738 in Connecticut, he became famous for leading the Green Mountain Boys, a militia group that captured Fort Ticonderoga in 1775. This victory provided crucial artillery for the Continental Army.
In addition to his military contributions, Allen was a prominent advocate for the independence of Vermont. He played a significant role in the early governance of the state and is remembered for his efforts to establish Vermont as a separate entity from both New York and New Hampshire.
