Battle of Muhlberg
The Battle of Muhlberg took place on April 24, 1547, during the German Peasants' War. It was a significant conflict between the forces of the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V and the Protestant princes of the Schmalkaldic League. The battle occurred near the town of Muhlberg in present-day Germany and was part of the larger struggle between Catholic and Protestant factions in Europe.
In this battle, Charles V's army decisively defeated the Protestant forces led by John Frederick I of Saxony. The victory solidified Charles's power and temporarily weakened the Protestant movement in Germany. The aftermath of the battle led to the capture of John Frederick and the eventual signing of the Peace of Augsburg in 1555, which allowed for religious coexistence.
