Battle of Mine Creek
The Battle of Mine Creek took place on October 25, 1864, during the American Civil War. It was part of the larger campaign known as the Price's Raid, where Confederate General Sterling Price aimed to capture Missouri. The battle occurred near Mine Creek in Kansas, where Union forces, led by Colonel James B. McPherson, confronted Price's troops.
The Union army achieved a decisive victory, inflicting heavy casualties on the Confederates. Approximately 1,500 Confederate soldiers were captured or killed, while Union losses were significantly lower. This battle helped to thwart Price's invasion and contributed to the overall Union success in the region.
