Battle of Custoza
The Battle of Custoza took place on June 24, 1848, during the First Italian War of Independence. It was fought between the forces of the Kingdom of Sardinia, led by General {Giuseppe Garibaldi}, and the Austrian Empire, commanded by Field Marshal {Joseph Radetzky}. The battle occurred near the town of Custoza, close to Verona, and was part of the larger struggle for Italian unification.
The Austrians emerged victorious, effectively halting the Sardinian advance into northern Italy. This defeat had significant consequences for the Italian unification movement, leading to a temporary setback for the Kingdom of Sardinia and reinforcing Austrian control over the region.
