Battle of Coleto
The Battle of Coleto took place from March 19 to March 20, 1836, during the Texas Revolution. It was fought between Texian forces, led by Colonel James Fannin, and the Mexican army under General José de Urrea. The battle occurred near Coleto Creek in present-day Texas, where Fannin and his troops were surrounded and ultimately forced to surrender.
After their surrender, the Texian soldiers were marched to Goliad, where they faced execution in what became known as the Goliad Massacre. This event fueled anger and resistance among Texians, contributing to their fight for independence from Mexico.
