Battle of Bennington
The Battle of Bennington took place on August 16, 1777, during the American Revolutionary War. It was fought in present-day Vermont and was a significant engagement between American forces and British troops. The battle was part of the larger Saratoga campaign and aimed to secure supplies for the American army.
American forces, led by General John Stark, successfully defeated the British and Hessian troops commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Friedrich Baum. This victory boosted American morale and helped to rally support for the revolutionary cause, ultimately contributing to the American success at the Battle of Saratoga later that year.
