Battle of Alamance
The Battle of Alamance took place on May 16, 1771, in North Carolina. It was a conflict between the colonial militia and a group of backcountry farmers known as the Regulators. The Regulators were protesting against unfair taxation and lack of representation in the colonial government.
The battle marked a significant moment in the growing tensions between the colonists and British authorities. Although the Regulators were defeated, the conflict highlighted the issues of governance and rights that would later contribute to the American Revolution. The battle is often seen as a precursor to the larger struggles for independence.
