Battle of Abo
The Battle of Abo took place on July 4, 1714, during the Great Northern War. This conflict was fought between the forces of the Swedish Empire and the Russian Empire near the town of Abo, now known as Turku in Finland. The battle was part of a larger struggle for control over the Baltic Sea region.
In this encounter, the Swedish army, led by General Carl Gustav Rehnskiöld, faced off against the Russian forces commanded by General Boris Sheremetev. The battle resulted in a decisive victory for the Russians, which significantly weakened Swedish influence in the area and marked a turning point in the war.
