Battle of Điện Biên Phủ
The Battle of Điện Biên Phủ was a significant conflict that took place from March to May 1954 in northern Vietnam. It was fought between the French colonial forces and the Viet Minh, a communist-led nationalist movement. The battle aimed to cut off the Viet Minh's supply lines and reassert French control over Indochina.
The Viet Minh, led by General Võ Nguyên Giáp, surrounded the French garrison at Điện Biên Phủ, using strategic tactics and heavy artillery. After 56 days of intense fighting, the French forces surrendered on May 7, 1954, marking a decisive victory for the Viet Minh and leading to the end of French colonial rule in Vietnam.
