Battle Of Karbala
The Battle of Karbala took place on October 10, 680 CE, in present-day Iraq. It was a significant conflict between the forces of Yazid ibn Muawiya, the Umayyad caliph, and a small group of supporters of Husayn ibn Ali, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad. Husayn and his followers opposed Yazid's rule, believing it was unjust and corrupt.
The battle resulted in the martyrdom of Husayn and many of his companions, which has profound religious and cultural significance for Shia Muslims. The event is commemorated annually during Ashura, symbolizing the struggle against tyranny and injustice.
