Batting Average
Batting Average is a statistic used in baseball to measure a player's hitting performance. It is calculated by dividing the number of hits a player gets by the number of times they have been at bat, excluding walks and hit-by-pitches. The result is expressed as a decimal, typically rounded to three places, such as .300.
A higher Batting Average indicates better performance, with .300 considered an excellent average. For example, a player with a Batting Average of .250 has 25 hits in 100 at-bats, while a player with a .300 average has 30 hits in the same number of at-bats.
