Bathukamma is a vibrant floral festival celebrated primarily in the Indian state of Telangana. It usually takes place during the last week of the Hindu lunar month of Bhadrapada, coinciding with the onset of the Dasara festival. The festival honors the goddess Goddess Bathukamma, symbolizing the cycle of life and nature. Women create beautiful flower stacks, known as Bathukamma, using seasonal flowers and offer them to the goddess.
During the festival, women gather in groups, singing traditional songs and dancing around the Bathukamma. The celebration lasts for nine days, culminating in the immersion of the flower stacks in local water bodies. This event fosters community bonding and showcases the rich cultural heritage of Telangana.
