The Batalha de Waterloo took place on June 18, 1815, near the town of Waterloo in present-day Belgium. It marked the decisive defeat of Napoleon Bonaparte, ending his rule as Emperor of the French. The battle was fought between Napoleon's French army and the Seventh Coalition, which included forces from Britain, Prussia, and other allied nations.
The battle was significant for its impact on European history, leading to a period of peace known as the Congress of Vienna. Following the defeat, Napoleon was exiled to the island of Saint Helena, where he spent the remainder of his life.
