Bassoon Maintenance
Maintaining a bassoon is essential for ensuring its longevity and optimal performance. Regularly check the pads, which seal the tone holes, for wear and tear. If they become damaged or worn out, they may need to be replaced to prevent air leaks and maintain sound quality.
Cleaning the bassoon after each use is also important. Use a cleaning swab to remove moisture from the bore and a soft cloth to wipe down the exterior. Additionally, periodically oil the bassoon's keys and joints to keep them functioning smoothly and to prevent corrosion.
