Basil I
Basil I, also known as Basil the Macedonian, was a Byzantine Emperor who reigned from 867 to 886 AD. He founded the Macedonian dynasty, which marked a period of cultural and military revival in the Byzantine Empire. Basil I rose from humble beginnings, originally working as a peasant and later becoming a successful courtier.
During his reign, Basil I focused on strengthening the empire's borders and improving its administration.
