Basic Salts
Basic salts are formed when a strong base reacts with a weak acid. They contain a metal cation and a basic anion, which gives them alkaline properties. Common examples include sodium bicarbonate, or baking soda, and sodium carbonate, known as washing soda. These salts can neutralize acids and are often used in cooking and cleaning.
In chemistry, basic salts can also be produced through the partial neutralization of a strong base with a weak acid. They play a role in various applications, including agriculture and water treatment, where they help to adjust pH levels and improve soil quality.
